Welcome to Sweet Stuff with Stasha!
Stay Sweet, Yo!
Sweet Stuff is the brainchild of 31-year old Chef Stasha Colin but it started as a dream of one day having her own television cooking show at the tender age of 9.
When she was a young child her Grandmother, London-born Lillian “Peg” Colin taught her not only how to cook, she instilled in Stasha a passion for the great European classic dishes and delicious baked goods that continue to be her specialty to this day. Another inspiration for Stasha was the comedy of Lucille Ball in “I Love Lucy”. She was impressed that Lucy could have such a good time, make an enormous mess, and still get a delicious dinner on the table just as Ricky walked through the door. Even as a little girl Stasha realized that not only could cooking be fun and tasty, but that it should be fun and tasty.
By the age of 9 our little Stasha was well into production on her first television show “Stasha’s Kitchen” which focused on the finer aspects of kid cuisine. Of course, this program was recorded by her dad Cliff and was never seen outside the home but the top-secret recipe for her Best-Family-Ever Thanksgiving Pumpkin Pie (made from scratch) still exists on a videocassette, in a vault, somewhere in the California desert. Needless to say, even at 9 years old Stasha was a chef destined for the screen.
Fast-forward to 2007 and we find a hustling, bustling Stasha Colin working a double life in Hollywood as a club promoter at hotspot LAX, rubbing elbows and sharing recipes with the likes of Too Short, Lil Jon, and Hillary Duff, and also working on the Elimination Challenge segments on the show “Hell’s Kitchen” with Chef Gordon Ramsay.
While working on “Hell’s Kitchen”, Chef Ramsay took notice of Stasha’s prep work skills and her tattoos, finding both to be exceptional. Intrigued, Ramsay questioned Stasha about her ambitions. When he found out that she had a dream to have her own show but that she was “stuck” in the world of television, he urged her to break away telling her “it’s never too late to live your dream”.
Within a year, Stasha was enrolled at Le Cordon Bleu Academy in Hollywood, CA. Her brushes with stardom didn’t stop while at culinary school. Instead, her natural talents and skills were acknowledged and celebrated and allowed her the opportunity to work alongside Top Chef New York runner-up Stefan Richter at chic private parties, cooking for the Los Angeles elite.
Knowing she had the support of such talents as Chef Ramsay and Chef Richter to back her, she started to feel more confidence in herself and her skills and soon the idea of her own show entitled “Sweet Stuff” seemed closer to reality than ever before.
Today, “Sweet Stuff” is in production and looking for a network to call home. The show? Well, think Betty Crocker meets Bettie Page and you might be close. Watch a few episodes and be sure to let us know what you think. And remember, “It’s never too late to live your dream”.
